AI Group acquire Thomson Entertainment product portfolioCrawley, England, April 2001, The AI Group Limited and Thales Training & Simulation (formerly Thomson Training & Simulation) have announced that they have reached a definitive agreement for the AI Group to acquire the entire Thomson Entertainment product range. Under the terms of the agreement AI have acquired the assets of Thomson Entertainment and are licensed to use the Intellectual Property Rights to sell and manufacture the existing product range. AI will take over future sales, marketing and long-term support of Thomson Entertainment's product portfolio including the Venturer range and associated large-scale motion theatres. Nigel Brown, Chief Executive of AI Group Limited, said "This is a very significant acquisition for AI as it secures our position as one of the leading manufacturers of entertainment simulators. We intend to use the existing products as a basis for a large range of flexible simulation systems. Our aim is to offer cost effective custom solutions as well as a family of standard products. We will be advising all existing Thomson Entertainment customers of the new service and support arrangements in the near future." Stanislas Guerin, Chairman and CEO of Thales Training & Simulation, said "Owners of Thomson Entertainment equipment can be confident that the long term support of their product is assured. I trust that they will welcome this new relationship with AI, an organisation that is complementary to their business needs." "Thales Training & Simulation has consistently been a leader in the development of simulation technology in the civil and military sectors due to the cross-fertilisation between the two technologies, a fertilisation that does not extend to the entertainment field. TT&S will continue to broaden its spheres of activity where there are rational areas in which the Company can develop." Dawn Featherstone
